POV: You gave up on “diet culture”

Things I’ve learned (and I’m still learning):

As a healthcare professional I can definitely appreciate the importance of health, but health is not the number on the scale or your clothes size. As seasons of life fluctuate I’ve learned that we have to have different goals!

  1. Restricting isn’t sustainable. Not for your mental health, your hormones, or your lifestyle–it’s just not effective over the entire length of your lifetime!
  2. Work with your body, not against it! I believe God gave us our bodies as a resource to steward, not to loathe or try to change to meet society’s expectations.
  3. I’ve learned that it’s just more fun to PRIORITIZE foods than restrict. Work to prioritize vegetables, fiber, protein, and healthy fats and find ways to keep it interesting!
  4. Body image is a reflection of your deeper emotional/mental well-being, not just what you see in the mirror. If you’re struggle with body image it’s important to understand it holistically rather than focusing on achieving an external goal.

All are welcome here to find resources for healthFULL and yummy food — yes, you can have both!
